Mian Shakeel Aslam : A spate of attacks across Iraq killed at least 66 people on Monday, including 40 who died in twin bombings in the southern city of Kut, according to an AFP tally based on official figures.
The two near-simultaneous bombings in Kut, 160 kilometres (100 miles) south of Baghdad, killed 40 people and wounded 65, said Ghalid Rashid Khazaa, health spokesman for Wasit province, of which Kut is the capital.
Attacks took place in 17 cities nationwide and left more than 230 wounded, according to the tally. (AFP)
